The “Monsanto Protection Act” effectively bars federal courts from being able to halt the sale or planting of controversial genetically modified organisms (aka GMO) or genetically engineered (GE) seeds, no matter what health issues may arise concerning GMOs in the future. According to the New York Times, Monsanto Director of Corporate Communications Phil Angel said, “Monsanto should not have to vouch for the safety of biotech food. Our interest is in selling as much of it as possible. Assuring its safety is the FDA’s job”.(1) The FDA – Food and Drug Administration insists,“Ultimately, it is the food producer who is responsible for assuring safety”.(2)

For this study, researchers analyzed data from mammalian studies, no in vitro studies were include. Studies using only the pure chemicals were included, no mixtures, no formulations, or tests using more then one compound were included. Please refer to the Evidence: Criteria for Assessment and Endpoints portion of the report for further clarification.
